Batten: 1 a British : a piece of lumber used especially for flooring b : a thin narrow strip of lumber used especially to seal or reinforce a joint
2 : a strip, bar, or support resembling or used similarly to a batten

Bird's mouth: cut-out in a rafter's lower end where it rests on the wall's top plate; the angle for the vertical plumb cut (relative to the rafter's edge) will be the same as for the rafter's end cuts - the horizontal cut, where the rafter will rest on the pate, will be 90 degrees to the plumb cut

Box beam: a beam fabricated out of dimensional lumber and plywood, generally glued and nailed.

Casing: enclosing frame around a window or a door

Clapboard: horizontal sheathing boards beveled with one edge thicker than the other. Used as siding.

CDX: an economical low grade plywood

Cupola: a rounded vault resting on a usually circular base and forming a roof or a ceiling b : a small structure built on top of a roof

Eaves cap: aluminum stip that protects the edge of the roof.

Eaves: the lower border of a roof that overhangs the wall

Fascia: 1 : a flat usually horizontal member of a building having the form of a flat band or broad fillet: as a : a flat piece used as a molding b : a horizontal piece (as a board) covering the joint between the top of a wall and the projecting eaves -- called also fascia board c : a nameplate over the front of a shop

Froe: a cleaving tool for splitting cask staves and shingles from the block.

Gable. Gabled end: 1 a : the vertical triangular end of a building from cornice or eaves to ridge b : the similar end of a gambrel roof c : the end wall of a building 2 : a triangular part or structure

Gambrel: a roof with a lower steeper slope and an upper less steep one on each of its two sides. barn-type of a roof.

Gulams: manufactured plywood beams

Green lumber: unseasoned, new lumber

Gypsum board: also known as plasterboard or gyprock : a board made of several plies of fiberboard, paper, or felt usually bonded to a hardened gypsum plaster core and used especially as wallboard

Header: any of several horizontal framing members supporting spans.

Joist: any of the small timbers or metal beams ranged parallel from wall to wall in a structure to support a floor or ceiling.

Lap joint: joint made by lapping one part over another and fastening them.
